Dexter

This is Dexter.

He is a 4 years old castrated male, He would be good with a dominant female or as an only dog.  He is in lovely condition and a very handsome boy.  He loves to play ball and is good with people and most animals, chickens and live stock.

He pulls a little on the lead but we are working on that; he has a good recall .

He really needs an experienced home and lots of lovely long walks.

Dexter is now in his new home.

The Devon GSD Rescue would like to thank Ann Bassett (Kalbeshan GSDs) for caring for Dexter over the past months.

We have just received this lovely update from Dexter's new home:

"We just can not believe how well Dexter has settled at home with us, it as if he has always been part of the family, such a loving and attentive boy, my niece (6) and nephew (18 months) were playing in the garden yesterday and he was so good and gentle with them.

He loves to know where we all are and loves his walks and lots of play, he is very good at night and is eating well. He has learnt to drop his ball over to next doors children and they throw it back both are getting a lot of enjoyment from it.

Just cant imagine our home without him now."

A further delightful update on Dexter:

“We would like to think he is now settled and happy to live here with us. He has gained weight which the vet is very happy with and developing quite a character, sneaking up stairs just to check we are ok of course and giving the loveliest of cuddles. My 2 year old nephew, Bradley, wanted to take him for a walk but I was a little concerned as he is still pulls occasionally on the lead. To our surprise Dexter and Bradley strolled down the path in a gentle and calm manner as if this was an every day occurrence!!

Yesterday Dexter and I visited my friend Jan who has eight working Labradors and English Springer Spaniels. He had a great time playing and running through the fields although he still wanted his evening walk - hence to say I was very tired.

The photo is of Dexter playing with Bradley and Bethany with water in the garden.”

Another lovely update received May 2012:

"I can't believe it's coming up to our first year with Dexter in our family. It's a pleasure with him around and you would think that he had always been with us, you can honestly say he has made himself at home, he definitely gets away with more than our other dog used to but who could resist those wonderful eyes. He such a gentle and loving boy but I think my husband is his favourite with our son second. Some mornings if he thinks my husband is taking too much time getting ready he trots upstairs to move him along and if our son is still in bed he dive bombs him and when Ryan moves a little makes himself very comfortable on his bed! So as you can see he has made himself very much at home, but then we would not have it any other way."
