Echo is a 14 month castrated male GSD. He came to rescue as his owners did not have time to give him the appropriate levels of care and training. He hadn’t been socialised and was initially wary with strangers; his communication skills with other dogs were poorly developed. He can become over excited in new situations because he is still very much a puppy in developmental terms.  After a period of assessment during which we worked at increasing Echo’s confidence towards strangers and on his basic obedience he was re homed. His new family loved him and found him friendly and loving a quick learner and eager to please; but after a few days they were finding what they perceived as a strong guarding instinct difficult to handle. This together with his dog on dog behaviour forced the decision to return him after 2 weeks. They couldn’t fault his temperament towards them and they acknowledged that although they had kept GSDs from pups before they were probably not strong enough or experienced enough to manage his issues.

Echo needs an experienced GSD home, ideally in a rural setting where he can relax and allow his loyal and affectionate nature to bond appropriately. He will benefit from ongoing training and guidance as he matures developmentally. He has had a poor start in life on many levels but is a super boy with huge potential.

Echo now has a new home.
