August 10th 2008 Hennock Show

It was an enjoyable day because the atmosphere at this country fair is lovely.  Unfortunately the weather did not help, being very showery, but the Fishing Ducks' were popular as was the Tombola and we were pleased to raise a few pence over £150 00.  There was also an interest in the Charity

July 20th 2008 Dog Show (follow up)

The Dog Show  was a great success, weather was lovely and we had so much support. The two rings were under cover and were ideally cool for the dogs and the two fun events had the sunshine so it was pleasant for them as well. Thanks to the helpers who were there from 9:30am, until 6:00pm and thanks also to the Sponsors and the competitors the Judges and the Stewards and hope they all enjoyed their day.

Our next show is the Family Dog Show in conjunction with The Classic Motor Show on August 17th 2008 (details can be found on our events page). We hope to see as many of you there as possible to support our poor homeless German Shepherd Dogs in need of good homes.

July 6th 2008

Donkey Derby

The weather was kind to us until the afternoon when it poured down.  A good day was had with the Tombola, Hook the Duck and the Hand crafted cards with a total of £138.00 being raised so a big thanks to all who helped.  It was nice to see Khan and Sampson two of our re-homed dogs again with Khan winning 3rd in the best rescue at the dog show.

A very popular evening was held with Richard Curtis demonstrating his training methods with his four dogs.  Three Border Collies and a Portuguese Water Dog.  The home-made cakes went down well in the interval and a very good raffle was held.  Many thanks to all those who contributed and special Thanks to Helen and Jean who worked so hard to make it a success.

GSD Club Show   June 7th 2008

I would like to thank the  GSD Club of Devon for having us at their Show at Killerton. It was a lovely day weather wise and so enjoyable to meet so many of our members. My thanks also go to Sarah for providing all the tombola items on the day, they were really super and helped increase our funds.

May Fayre     Sunday May 4th 2008

Despite a pessimistic weather report, we were really lucky and had a lovely warm day.  Judy and Roxie created a lot of interest in the Charity, and the Tombola and boot sale ticked along quite nicely.  It was certainly worth being there and let's hope for the same weather conditions at all our fund raising activities this year.

The talk given on April 4th 2008 by Rapid UK. Our thanks to Chris and Billy  for bringing along the pictures taken at various disasters around the world to which their members have been invited to assist. The pictures showed members both men and women of the rescue teams, including the highly trained search and rescue dogs and the conditions under which they have to work.

Everyone who came along said what an interesting evening it had been.

The Coffee morning held on December 22nd 2007 organised by the committee was a huge success raising approximately £300.00.  After starting slowly it gained momentum with the mince pies, cakes and biscuits going quickly.
The draw had some excellent prizes which had been donated and along with the stalls succeeded in tempting people to part with their money. Outside Roxy and Holly looked the business in their tinsel collars and were good ambassadors for the breed.
A big Thank You to everyone who helped and supported us in any way, especially to Lil who took the money at the door and Helen selling the hand made cards, both of whom are not even committee members.
We were so pleased and plan to hold another one or two coffee mornings throughout next year alongside other events.

The Barbeque held on the September 9th 2007 was an enjoyable event. It was so heart warming to get such wonderful support from people and meet face to face.  A film on dog behaviour shown, was very interesting and Ralph's burgers went down very well. We are grateful to Ralph and Jackie for providing the venue for this event.  It is hoped to do the same thing again next year with lots more members to invite.
We must do another one next summer with hopefully lots more members to invite.
