Past Events 2008

December 7th 2008

Our Christmas party was a great success, and we thank everyone who helped on the day, but more importantly those who supported us by attending or sending a donation. It was lovely to see so many of our members, especially those who were just names and number before and to meet up again with some of the dogs that have been re-homed through the rescue.

November 29th 2008

A big thank you to Deborah and Peter for their second fund raising event a Christmas Bring and Buy  where they raised in excess of £250.00 without support like this we could not continue to help so many dogs.

November 25th 2008

Our thanks go to Eleanor Warren for a very interesting evening telling us all about clicker training methods and to those who came along and supported us.

October 25th 2008

Charity had a stall at the GSD Club of Devon's Open Breed and Obedience Show at Hennock. The weather was cold but dry and it was enjoyable being able to watch some of the obedience. It was a good day raising over £50.00

October 18th 2008

We had our Coffee morning in the Church Hall Okehampton, also being Carnival Day there were a lot of other events being held but on the whole it was a successful morning. Many thanks to all those who helped as many hands make light work. It was good to meet up again with some of our members who had travelled a considerable distance to support us.

October 18th 2008  Fund Run

Mrs. Bishop of Candy Farm Liverton held a Coffee Morning and 6 mile Fun Walk or Ride. It was a lovely day and twenty nine people took part raising over £400 in sponsorship between them. Our thanks go to Mrs. Bishop for organising the event and to all the people who took part.

October 11th 2008

The Charities stall at the Bridestowe Cats Protection League Table Top Event, managed to sell some Bric ‘a’ Brac and  also some lovely handmade Cards.

October 4th/5th 2008

The Classic Motor Show on the first weekend in October with our own Dog show and Agility alongside the main ring on the 5th was nearly another non event, but then ended up as an enjoyable afternoon. The Classic Car event was cancelled at midday on the 5th but by then about twelve dogs had appeared so with the Judge being keen to carry on it was decided to hold the Dog Show. Everyone seemed to enjoy it and the weather stayed fine. Ian & Pat put out some of the agility equipment for them to further occupy the dogs so everyone was happy. The Best in show was awarded to Rachel Mayle with Trixie a lovely cross-breed. Many thanks to Debbie, Jean, Pat, Phil & Sue, Pat & Ian and specials thanks to Laurie for Judging.

September 7th 2008 Family Dog Show.

This was held at the Tractor Rally at Rixey Park Kingsteignton. It was touch and go whether it could take place due to the very wet weather, but the organisers decided to carry on and the tractors were busy pulling cars and vans in and out. Luckily Sunday was good weather and the ground dried out well. A lot of people were probably put off by the previous weather but the Dog Show was fairly well supported. We also ran a Tombola managing to make even more funds. A big thank you to Roger and Natalie who not only judged and stewarded but also donated several special awards. Thanks also go to Phil, Sue, Becky, Debbie, Jean and Tom for their help on the day.

It was good PR for the Charity and The Best in Show was a Douge De Bordeaux from Dawlish.

Our next Dog Show is with the Classic Motor Show at Ashburton on October 5th

August 10th 2008

It was an enjoyable day because the atmosphere at this country fair is lovely. Unfortunately the weather did not help, being very showery, but the Fishing Ducks' were popular as was the Tombola and we were pleased to raise a few pence over £150 00. There was also an interest in the Charity

July 20th 2008 Dog Show (follow up)

The Dog Show was a great success, weather was lovely and we had so much support. The two rings were under cover and were ideally cool for the dogs and the two fun events had the sunshine so it was pleasant for them as well. Thanks to the helpers who were there from 9:30am, until 6:00pm and thanks also to the Sponsors and the competitors the Judges and the Stewards and hope they all enjoyed their day.

Our next show is the Family Dog Show in conjunction with The Classic Motor Show on August 17th 2008 (details can be found on our events page). We hope to see as many of you there as possible to support our poor homeless German Shepherd Dogs in need of good homes.

July 6th 2008 Donkey Derby

The weather was kind to us until the afternoon when it poured down. A good day was had with the Tombola, Hook the Duck and the Hand crafted cards with a total of £138.00 being raised so a big thanks to all who helped. It was nice to see Khan and Sampson two of our re-homed dogs again with Khan winning 3rd in the best rescue at the dog show.
